Environmental Impact

This project safeguards over 1 billion tCO₂e stored in forest biomass and is registered under the COLCX standard. Throughout its lifetime, it is expected to prevent more than 127 million tCO₂e in verified emissions. As a large-scale initiative rooted in the Amazon, CMARI aligns with SDGs 13 and 15, contributing directly to climate action and biodiversity protection.

Social Results

Three healthcare staff provide services across all villages. Solar panels are installed in every community; some also have internet access. The project created 34 jobs and enabled 41 students to access higher education. It works with the Puinave and Curripaco communities. Sixteen motorboats have been delivered. Next goals: drinking water systems, community centers, and women’s committees.

Methodology

The “COLCX Methodology for REDD+ Projects” quantifies emissions reductions from avoided deforestation by integrating rigorous carbon accounting with community-led conservation efforts. It ensures environmental integrity through satellite monitoring, sustainable land-use planning, and the active participation of indigenous and local communities.
