Environmental impact

With more than 74 million tCO₂e stored in forest biomass, this project is projected to avoid over 6.2 million tCO₂e in emissions. It is certified under the Cercarbono standard (ICROA-endorsed), validated and verified by Versa, and listed in the EcoRegistry. Vaupés makes measurable contributions to SDGs 13 and 15, prioritizing carbon integrity and forest conservation.

Social results

Three healthcare staff serve all villages, which are equipped with solar panels, internet access, and village shops. Eight jobs have been created. The project supports the Ñamepaco community. Six motorboats are currently in use. Next steps: waste management and upgrades to roads and housing.

Project Documentation

Access the most recent project documentation on EcoRegistry by searching the original Spanish registry names: “Proyecto REDD+ Zona Isana y Surubi” (CDC-67), or clicking here.

The CERCARBONO “REDD+ Methodology for the Implementation of REDD+ Projects Consistent with National Reference Levels” quantifies emissions reductions from avoided deforestation by integrating rigorous carbon accounting with community-led conservation efforts.
It ensures environmental integrity through satellite monitoring, sustainable land-use planning, and the active participation of indigenous and local communities. For more details, visit
